Every day we turn on the water and we expect to have an endless supply because water is technically renewable and Earth's surface is 70% water. But the vast majority of this supply is saltwater. 97.5% of global water supply is saltwater, while only 2.5% is freshwater (including glaciers and permanent snow cover, groundwater, permafrost, swamp water, lakes. rivers, and streams).
Drought, overuse, and various human activities can affect the supply and quality of this freshwater supply. Water is a key factor to life around us, and with a decreasing amount, it will effect human life and biogeochemical cycles.
